What’s Your Bag? w/ Dr. Roberta Di Carmine

M&L: What’s your bag?

RD:  I bought this bag from my favorite store, T.J. Maxx! I enjoy visiting the store in Macomb now that they opened it here, and I love searching for bargains! I believe I bought this bag two years ago in Quincy and absolutely love it. It’s big but not too big, and it has pockets, which are essential for me!

M&L: What books are you carrying for school, and are you carrying a book that isn’t for school?

RD: Today, I am carrying two books for the Women in Film/T.V. class. Tomorrow, I will carry the Intro to Film textbook, The Film Experience by T. Corrigan, and then on Wednesday, A Short History of Film History by Wheeler Winston Dixon for Film History. I also carry a notebook. I like to write down my thoughts on anything I am working on, and right now I am almost done writing a paper for an upcoming conference.

M&L: Do you have a favorite pen, pencil, or notebook that you always carry with you?

RD: My favorite pen! It’s a really good pen from the Graduate School. I enjoy writing with it, and actually, I carry two pens because I am always worried that one will stop working!

M&L: Besides the essentials (phone, wallet, keys), what do you never leave the house without?

RD: My glasses! I am short-sighted and need reading glasses (ugh, part of getting older!).

M&L: What do you keep in your bag that you’ll never use?

RD: A pocket mirror! I got it in one of my travels, and I still carry it with me because it reminds me of that wonderful trip (to New Zealand).

From left to right, top to bottom: Toiletry bag featuring Band-Aids for paper cuts, a few Aspirins, and two more chapsticks (all from Italy), Daygum gum, travel tissues, chapstick, Labello chapstick, pocket mirror, wallet, glasses case, keys, Feminism & Film by E. Ann Kaplan, 2 WIU Grad Office pens, Five Star notebook, orange folder
