M&L: What’s your bag?
SBD: I actually received this bag from my older brother as a gift at my high school graduation party! He knows I love customizing my things, so he intentionally chose one with plenty of blank space for me to decorate. Since then, I’ve slowly covered it with pins and keychains that reflect my interests and little phases I’ve gone through, so it feels less like a bag and more like a piece of myself that I carry around!
M&L: What books are you carrying for school, and are you carrying a book that isn’t for school?
SBD: Right now, I am carrying Eva Luna (which I borrowed from the Macomb Public Library!) for English 358 with Dr. Allison, and I also carry my tablet with me, so that I can read recreationally between classes. Currently, I am reading You’d Be Home Now by Kathleen Glasgow. I like being able to keep personal and academic reading with me since it helps pass the time, especially when I’m waiting for the GoWest bus between classes around campus.
M&L: Do you have a favorite pen, pencil, or notebook that you always carry with you?
SBD: I do! I have a set of gel pens that I received from a friend that I really look up to. They have tiny clips that look like cat tails, and they write really smoothly without smudging, which makes them my number one choice for doodling and note-taking.

M&L: Besides the essentials (phone, wallet, keys), what do you never leave the house without?
SBD: I never leave my dorm without my instant stain remover pen. I tend to get my clothes dirty with pen ink, markers, and snacks throughout the day, so it really is a lifesaver for me!
M&L: What do you keep in your bag that you’ll never use?
SBD: I always keep a needle and thread in my bag for emergencies. Fortunately, I’ve never had to use it, but I like knowing it’s there if I ever need it.
